Product Questions:

  • Newport Plug-in Speaker is not turning on.

Sometimes, the power button can be stiff so that you will need to press the power button harder several times (or keep pressing it for 3 - 5 seconds to get it on). A combination of the above actions should resolve this problem.

  • It seems that the Newport Plug-in Speaker is connected but it does not produce sound.

When there are multiple devices (ex. phone, laptop, or tablet) that are connected to a Speaker at the same time, there is only one device's source that can be played through the speaker. Please turn off the Bluetooth connection on the device that you don't use.

If these actions don't resolve this issue, please access your device's Bluetooth setting to find "Forget This Device" to reset it entirely. Then, restart the pairing process again.

  • I’ve plugged off the Newport Plug-in Speaker. Do I need to go through the Bluetooth pairing process again when I plug it back in or move it to the other outlets?

No, once you’ve paired the speaker with your connected device, the speaker remembers your connected device. But, you will need to turn it on by pressing the power button to reconnect the speaker. This way, the speaker will automatically reconnect itself. If you try to reconnect it through your device, the sound may not come out.

  • The Newport Plug-in Speaker does not tightly fit into the outlet.

On rare occasions, the speaker would not fit into the electrical outlet tightly which may cause the unit to topple and fall. In most cases, this is the issue for the electrical outlet itself as it’s worn, loosen, or overused. Please use the other available electrical outlets that are not worn, loosen, or overused. Please make sure that the unit is securely fitted into the electrical outlet for operation.

  • Is the Newport Plug-in Speaker a portable speaker?  And, can I take outdoor?

Newport Plug-in speaker is for indoor only and not portable when it comes to any outdoor use. It can be used anywhere in the home and office where there is a wall plug.

  • Is the Newport Plug-in Speaker Wi-Fi smart speaker that can command voice control?

Since it’s a Bluetooth speaker, it can’t command voice control. However, you can still command voice control via your smartphone's Bluetooth.

  • Is the Newport Plug-in Speaker waterproof?

It’s not a waterproof speaker. Please do not use near water such as basins, sinks, and shower.

  • Can USB Type-A port transfer media files and playback music?

USB Type-A port is for charging phones/tablets only.

  • How to restore your speaker to factory default settings

Sometimes, you may want to delete all remembered Bluetooth pairing from your device. To do this, you need to “reset” the Newport Plug-in Speaker, and here is how to do it:

While the unit is ON

Press the “Power icon” and “ADD” buttons at the same time for 5 seconds

The unit will turn off, and the factory default is set

  • How to clean your speaker and remove dirt from it

Unplug the unit from the outlet. Please use a microfiber cloth to remove dirt. Please do not use water and alcohol to remove dirt.

  • What is the Bluetooth wireless range between the unit and my connected device?                                                                                                                                                                                                    The line of sight range is 65 feet (or 20 meters). However, for usage inside of home or office where there are walls, concretes, or other building structures that interfere with the signal, we recommend using the unit within 45 feet (or 15 meters) from your connected device.

  • Is the Newport Plug-in Speaker firmware updatable?

It does not support firmware updates.

  • Is there an App?

There isn’t an App for this speaker. Controlling the volume, play, and pause of your music are done completely through your connected device.
